Mmmm Lemon Meringue Pie

Mr S and I were having a bit of a drive around one day and were close to this deli that I had heard about so we decided to drop in and have a look.  They had some delicious looking cakes in their display but it was the lemon meringue pie that caught our eye.  We decided to take it away rather than stop and eat there.

Once we got home it was around 4pm and I have a rule that I don't drink coffee after 3pm.  I have enough issues in the sleep department without adding caffeine so late in the day to it.  So I decided to make a hot chocolate instead.  Not just a normal hot chocolate with powder but a real one.  Luckily I had done a cake a few weeks ago and that needed good dark chocolate so I had been out and purchased a 2.5kg bag of callebaut dark chocolate.

The hot chocolate was very rich.  More a Mr S type of beverage.

The lemon meringue was delicious.  I will definitely be going back to that deli to have it again.

My Brisbane Adventure Part 1

A few weeks ago I decided to go into the city for a morning of walking around my beautiful Brisbane and to have a squiz in the shops.  I used to work in the city until the company I worked for relocated to Fortitude Valley and then I left just over 14 months ago now.  I don't get into the city much now a days so decided that I would catch a lift in with Mr S one early morning to have a walk around and then meet my friend Matilda for lunch and drinks at Southbank.
Getting up at 6am so Mr S would get to work on time is not really my idea of fun and something that I haven't done for a while.  I am not really a morning person, more of a night owl.
I got into the city at around 7.45am and with the shops not being even close to open had to occupy myself for a while.  I took a stroll down to the botanical gardens and then decided to stop for some breakfast.  Had some lovely eggs benedict and a much needed latte to wake me up.
Once that was all finished it was off to explore the shops.  I found some shops that didn't exist when I was working in the city and took some photo's of some of the interesting things that I found.

I got these 3 letters for $10.00, not each but all 3 for 10.  I thought that was a great bargain. They are sitting in my study on a shelf on the wall and of course are for Me and  Mr S.

I thought these little lamps were hilarious.  I am assuming to turn them on you have to flick that switch, and we all know that one touch of that does turn a man on..ha ha
I didn't buy one of these, just took the photo.

and I do love birthday cake.  Didn't buy this card but should have

loved this clock, it would look great in my study and it was only $19.95

all images above were taken at Typo

loved this apple...look it's me in the reflection looking a bit distorted

once I took the lid off I discovered it was an candle, I think it was from bed, bath and table, it smelt great

my much needed coffee break at villa and hut, it was a pretty good coffee to.
Stay tunned for part 2 of my adventure where I have some great pictures of my beautiful city to share with you.  It was a lovely day and the city looked great.

Thinking Pink cause I'm feeling Blue

I'm feeling a little blue today so am going to post something that puts a smile on my face.  All shades of pink.  I love so many different shades of pink.  Here are some gorgeous photo's that I have found of one of my favourtie colours.

When I got married my bridesmaids wore fuchsia and looked beautiful.  Although I am not sure they appreciated the tulle that seemed to be scratching their bums all day..

My wedding day back in 2003.  Sorry that the picture is crooked.

.

I love this bath, however not sure that I would be brave enough to have it in my house.  Plus I don't think Mr S would approve.  Not manly enough for him!!

The beautiful Sharnel Dollar of My Life My Loves who is the proprietor of The Cupcake Company holds cupcake classes in her home.  I really hope to attend one of these at some stage.  I can't wait to see her gorgeous home in the flesh.

Alex Perry Designs

I love Alex Perry's clothes.   I have no chance of ever fitting into one of his designs though.  Maybe an arm might fit, but nothing else..ha ha

Poor Mr S has been sick for about 3 weeks now.  Not sure how he would feel about this, but I would love for Dr McSteamy to come over and check him out, and then give me the once over.. ;-)

Birthday Party

I found this gorgeous party over at Courture Parties Blog . I think I have mentioned before my love for pink and lime together.

What exciting plans do you have for the weekend?  I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow night.  However, I don't think it will be decorated like this one.  Whatever you are doing for the weekend I hope you have fun with family and friends.

Happy 50th Colleen, I hope you have a great day today and here's to a fantabulous party tomorrow night.

Light Fittings

Here are some more pictures from our display homes day.  Some of these light fixtures caught my eye.  I think the lamp is my favourite out of all of them.  Which one is yours?

These are a few of my favourite things

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens.....  When I was a kid I loved this song and I LOVED this movie.  The Sound of Music was one of my favourite's.  I remember going over to my Auntie Joy's and Uncle Johns (not really related, that's just what they were called) and watching this movie over and over.

Now that I have grown up, these are a few of my favourite things.  Don't get me wrong, I still love whiskers on kittens.....

I have a total love affair with images of Paris.  I have been there, I was about 19 years old and was too concerned at the time about drinking and having fun to appreciate it's beauty and culture.  I hope to make it back there one day with my husband.

Flowers and cakes....I love both, not any particular type or flavour....Love them all.

Mmmmm champagne...my drink of choice.

And of course my puppie DJ, he's probably my most favourite thing along with MR S.

M is for Macaron and Monday

Mmmmm....I love these tasty morsels. These images are divine. I have yet to find a good macaron in Brisbane. Not one that tastes like the amazing Adriano Zumbo's anyway. A couple of years ago Mr S and I took a trip to Sydney, got lost trying to find his shop in Balmain and made it just before closing. The flavour that sticks in my mind from that day was the salted popcorn. And it did taste like popcorn. I can't really recall the rest of the flavours. I think we tried about 6 different ones.

I will leave you to drool over these yummy images.
