Happy Birthday DJ

Time to introduce you to one of the loves of my life. I don't have kids & DJ my Maltese is the next best thing. It's his birthday today. A big 5 years old. I received him for my birthday when he was 2 months old. Considered the runt of the litter when we got him, this little bundle of joy has given me unconditional love for the past 4 years & 10 months. I think life would be just that little bit boring if he was not around. He provides my hubby & I with lots of love & entertainment.

Happy Friday Everyone

Happy Friday everyone. What exciting things are you doing for the long weekend? Mr S & I are off to Melbourne for 3 nights. I love Melbourne. I so look forward to that first cup of coffee. I don't care what anyone says, but Melbourne DOES do the best coffee.

Looking forward to a weekend of beautiful food, coffee & culture. Oh and the football. Mr S is a Geelong supporter and what do you know, there is a game on while we are down there that we will be attending. GO CATS!!

Whatever you are doing this long weekend, I hope you have fun with family & friends. Let us also not forget why we have this long weekend. To honour the ANZAC's. My dad will be marching on Sunday and I wish I was going to be there to watch him. Next year hey.

Take care everyone & stay safe this long weekend.

A trip to Ikea

I took a trip to Ikea today with a friend so she could buy some frames. I find it impossible to go to Ikea and not buy anything for myself. I was after some cushions that I had seen the week before when I was there. They were a great bargain and at the time I only bought one. When I got home from that trip I thought I should have bought more and decided that I would go back and get them. Of course when I went today they didn't have any. That just pretty much sums up my luck with retail purchases. I should just buy things when I see them because when I go back they are always gone. Anyway, here is what I got today.

Dog bowl for DJ $2.99 so cute with it's crown

That's my dog DJ who decided he wanted to be in the photo

Below is the cushion that I got the week before.
It was reduced from $26.99 to $6.99

Kitchen Tea

Just wanted to share this beautiful kitchen tea with you that I discovered over on ish and chi. The food just looks scrumptious. I just love the colour combination of pink & lime, and how gorgeous is the pink chandelier print. I think I might just have to purchase one of these some time soon.

You can purchase the print here

Gorgeous Tea Towels

A friend of mine & her gorgeous hubby recently came back from England to celebrate her mothers birthday. We were lucky enough to catch up with them for a lovely dinner at a friends house. To my surprise the beautiful Linda came bearing gifts for us. She presented me with a gorgeous 2 pack of tea towels from Cath Kidston. I had never heard of her, but what gorgeous tea towels. Don't you agree? Check out the website http://cathkidston.co.uk/ thank you so very much Linda and I hope you have a safe trip back to the UK. However I am looking forward to April next year when you come back to us for good.

The Beginning & Tylers Birthday.

Well, where to begin. Never thought I would start my own blog but here you go. I am normally the kind of person that would just read others and not do my own. My sister in law sort of talked me into it yesterday saying to me, " I am sure there are people out there that are interested in what you have to say". We will see about that Cinde.

Not really sure what kind of things I will post here, probably just the things that interest me. Maybe even share some recipes with you from time to time.
I may as well start with my beautiful nephew Tyler's first birthday that we celebrated yesterday. I like to think that I am an OK baker. I have taken 2 cake decorating courses so dabble a little in cake decorating, mainly for friends. I have, however been paid for two jobs now. Might even post one of those later on.

Being a first birthday I thought something special was needed to be done. I had thought about asking my sister in law if I could do the cake and had even discussed this with my hubby Mr S. I had not mentioned this to my sister in law when an email popped up in my inbox with her asking if I would make something for him. Well, I jumped at the chance. The last cake I had done was back in September.
The search on the Internet began for some inspiration on what to do for little Tyler. And he is little. Bit of a rough start in life being born 10 weeks early. He is doing great now and has a beautiful cheeky grin.

So here is the finished product for our little star.

And here is a picture of me with the birthday boy....

You will have to excuse my photo's, I am by no means a photographer or very technical with making them look good. I don't even have photoshop.
Oh & ps...so excited that Masterchef is starting tonight....woo hoo!!!!
