Birthday Cake

Just wanted to share with you the birthday cake that my brother made for me.  It's pretty impressive and tasted delicious, just wish I could have fit in more than one piece.  Lucky he gave me a piece to take home.

It was a 3 layer flourless chocolate cake layered with a strawberry chocolate mouse with fresh strawberries.  Just divine!!

My Birthday lunch

Lunch with Matilda for my birthday was fantastic.  We went to a place called  Wagamana and it was really nice.  I had the chicken katzu curry and some duck gyoza and of course I forgot to take my camera out of my bag to take photo's so I stole the below photo's off Wagamama's facebook page.

Mmmm I just love duck and these were delicious.

The chicken katsu came out looking exactly like the picture above.  It was the best katsu I have ever tasted.  The chicken was moist, not over cooked like most have them have always been and the curry sauce had a really lovely flavour.  I had also ordered a green tea but only took one sip of that.  Think it had brewed for too long.  It was really strong and way to bitter for my liking.

After lunch we went to a place called Freestyle Tout for coffee and cake.  Again I forgot to take my camera out so luckily they had a picture of what I had on their website.  The only difference was I asked for vanilla ice cream to come with mine.  Chocolate would have just been to much for me, and mine had more hot chocolate fudge sauce.  Not sure what the sauce is in the below picture.  The brownie was warm, very moist and absolutely delicious.

Happy Birthday to me!!! Yes, it's my birthday today.  I am ever so close to that dreaded big 40 now.  But hey, don't they say it's the new 30??  I think that's what I will have to try and convince myself of for the next year. 
You know what the best thing is about birthday's??  It's CAKE of course!!

Well what are my plans today you ask?  Off for a nice lunch with my oldest friend Matilda to Waggamama.  Mr S and I were going to go out for dinner but I can't do lunch and dinner in one day, it's to much. 

On Saturday we are off to Goma (Gallery of Modern Art) to see the Ron Mueck exhibition.  I am really looking forward to it.  We saw a piece of his work a few years ago when we were down in Canberra at the gallery.  Stay tuned for some photo's of that.

Here is a sneak peak of what you can expect.  They are so life like.

Saturday night out with Mr S somewhere for dinner, not sure where yet but I am sure it will be nice.

Sunday afternoon will be afternoon tea at my brothers house, who I am told is going to bake me a birthday cake, one of my birthday wishes coming true and hopefully some nana naps in there somewhere.  Have become a great fan of the old nana nap lately.  Must be getting old!! ha ha

Happy Birthday DJ

Time to introduce you to one of the loves of my life. I don't have kids & DJ my Maltese is the next best thing. It's his birthday today. A big 5 years old. I received him for my birthday when he was 2 months old. Considered the runt of the litter when we got him, this little bundle of joy has given me unconditional love for the past 4 years & 10 months. I think life would be just that little bit boring if he was not around. He provides my hubby & I with lots of love & entertainment.
